The Calexico Wellness Center, a non-profit community clinic, recognizes the concerns of Calexico patients by developing strategies that take our healthcare directly into the neighborhoods and homes of those in need.

We work with local community agencies and organizations to grow strong ties in effective areas of our mission while continuing to seek partnerships with local granting agencies and sponsorships to grow as we implement the mutual interests in healthcare promotion, support, and direct services.
Meet Our Staff
Dr. Phillip Dickinson is a board certified general surgeon, he has 14 years of experience. He can help patients with a variety of procedures to treat hernias, hemorrhoids, bariatric surgery, colon conditions and other issues. He also specializes in robotic and bariatric surgery. Speaks English and Spanish.
Vitali Aizin, MD is a board Certified Doctor, he has 17 years of experience. Specializes in cardiology and nuclear cardiology and treats patients for congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure and other conditions. Speaks English and Spanish.
Tarek Hassanein, MD is a board-certified Gastroenterology and transplant hepatologist who specializes in liver disease. He has over 20 years of experience. He provides care to patients at Southern California GI and Liver Centers, a clinical services collaborator of UC San Diego Health. Dr. Hassanein focuses his practice on the management of viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, and care of patients before and after liver transplantation.
Dr. Bernard Lichtenstein is an internist in San Diego, CA and is affiliated with multiple hospitals, including Scripps Mercy Hospital and Scripps Mercy Hospital. He received his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez and has been in practice 38 years. He also speaks multiple languages, including Spanish and German. He is experienced in diabetes mellitus, cardiology, geriatrics, preventive medicine, and minority health.
Michelle is board certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Illinois in Chicago. By starting her career in Internal Medicine, she was provided with a solid knowledge base in managing primary care. Dedicated to preventative care, she believes in the mind, body, and spirit working collaboratively as a whole to achieve optimal health.
A few areas I am very passionate about: “I love counseling patients on nutritional health, the importance of fitness, and achieving balance in their day to day lives. I believe one of the most important aspect in the provider and patient relationship is building a rapport of trust &delivering attentive and compassionate care.”
Sinafikish Tessema, has over 9 years of experience in the medical field. She graduated from San Diego State University medical school in 2012. She is affiliated with Sharp Grossmont Hospital. Ms. Sinafikish T. Tessema is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in La Mesa, CA with special training and skill in the lifelong care of women, with a strong focus on gynecological and obstetric health. As a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, she performs prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of women. Women’s Health Nurse Practice is an advanced-practice that specializes in comprehensive primary care services for women of all ages. Significant diseases and conditions treated by Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners include nutritional deficiencies, hormone imbalances, menstrual irregularities, viral infections, injuries, and sexually transmitted diseases. Medical tests, procedures and therapies provided by Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners include wellness check-up, contraceptive care, STD screening and follow up, pregnancy testing, common infection evaluation and treatment, as well as pre-menopause and post-menopause care.
